Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “The people who will receive the severest punishment on the day of judgment are the picture makers (of animate objects).” (Saheeh Bukhari #5950 & Saheeh Muslim #5539)
The severity of photography is leaving our muslim community. When a sin becomes widespread, it is taken very lightly. We never imagined that this day will come, when let alone taking photographs, with the cell-phone almost everyone has become a camera-man videoing day to day outings and get togethers.
Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Every picture maker will be in the fire. For every picture that he makes, a living being will be created and will punish him in jahannam.” (Saheeh Muslim #5540)
As a muslim our firm Imaan will protect us from all forms of photography. Be it on the cell phone, computer screen or our photographs appearing in magazines and newspapers.

Assalamu alaikom,
SubhanALLAH! The Prophetsaw did not have cameras in his day, and the hadith is clear in saying that picture-makers who make pictures of things with souls. Example: humans, animals and etc. No where in that hadith does it say “camera” or “cell-phone”. Be careful in interpreting ahadith. This is very important. It would be sinful if we drew humans or animals, but taking photographs are not haraam brother.
How do you work a camera? You click a button and you catch the object with lighting.
The ProphetSAW said to follow the middle path. -Sahih Bukhari
The ProphetSAW said to not make the religion a burden for the people. Do not make it hard. -Sahih Bukhari
Be careful in what you say about ahadith. This viewpoint is very extreme, and makes people run away from Islam The Prophetsaw is talking about drawings! Not about cameras and cell-phones.
May Allahswt increase us in knowledge and forgive us for our sins. Ameen ya rabil’alameen.

Today we don’t need any non muslim and enemies of Islam/ munafiq as Muslim’s of today are the biggest enemy of self and its religion.
(Saheeh Muslim #5540) is about fortuneteller and not about photography. at least quote the right number or don’t quote it.
Saheeh Bukhari #5950 & Saheeh Muslim #5539 both numbers are not right for the above hadees.
I suggest the moderate should check them before posting.
IN addition to the above, I like to comment on lauren post, Dear lauren there were/are many things which were not present at that time for example Aeroplanes and internet but it is up to you to use it in the right way or the wrong way. you can use a plane tp go to do a noble cause and vice versa. same goes with internet.
( literal meaning) ProphetSAW drew three lines and said the right and left is path of devil and middle one is the my path, so follow it.
The ProphetSAW said to follow the middle path. -Sahih Bukhari
The ProphetSAW said to not make the religion a burden for the people. Do not make it hard. -Sahih Bukhari ……………right but tomorrow people will say we don’t want to offer prayers and give zakat or fast then what will you tell them? follow them selves or follow the religion? don’t try and do the same mistake which is already done by Christine and Jews and other religions, learn from other people mistakes rather then making your own.
